Here's some more close-ups of what's happening at lottie and at home on my balcony...
Spotted these cute piggy cane toppers on someone else's blog and had to have some of my own!
tomatoes starting to form
runner beans in flower and black-eyed susan vine adding colour to the wigwam
celeriac putting on lots of growth
globe artichokes look all architcturally splendid
1st purple podded peas
on the balcony..., borage in flower - so pretty
pouch of chillis need repotting
peppers forming - these are about 1.5" long
stunning succulent flowers
'bill' the basil plant - not seen such a dense bushy variety before. varigated too and smells intensely basil-y. i had to have it! got one for my mum too as a gift. she loved the heart-shaped potato ;) it is her birthday today. happy birthday mum! we are off to the zoo. very excitied!

Jealous of the rain - hopeful we will get some tommorrow.
alas, the rain was in lancashire where i was visiting my folks, NOT on my allotment! i understand it has been super-hot in gloucestershire all weekend. looks like there is a chance of rain next week, so got fingers crossed!
not had any artichokes yet this year. a lot of faff but they were tasty last year...
Thanks for the link, Steph. I managed to get some little piggies from the Oxfam shop on our visit to Ilkley yesterday. The rain has arrived here in Yorkshire today, the allotment will be getting a good watering.
The piggies are adorable. when do you harvest the artichokes? I have one and I'm not sure if it is ready.

My borage flowers are 'flowering' too. The bees are loving them.

Your globe artichokes look great. I have only recently found out I love them, so now want to grow them on the lottie. I bought some seeds for next year. Are they easy to grow and do they take up a lot of space ??
i inherited the globe artichokes maureen, so i can't give much advice on them. i tend to leave them to it, watering occassionally. good luck with yours :) they die back in the winter and grow really big in the summer. leave at least 1m square, probably more, around them.
